Sea’s mosaic
Mosaic of marine life, Pompeii, Italy, circa 100 BCE,88 x 88 cm
The students, through random shapes and certain color choices, composed a view of the less recorded and known part of the natural environment, that of the seabed. The rendering of a general image through smaller shapes and forms was referencing the mosaics found in Pompeii depicting the seabed while their freedom refers to the flow of water.
