Nature in my dreams

Jacek Yerka, theophilus-snail, 2004

Dreams and the unconscious are regarded as fundamental references of creation for many artists, but especially to the Surrealists. Some of the basic principles of Surrealism are the realization of illogical forms, the absence of aesthetic prejudices and the omnipotence of the dream. The contemporary painter Jacek Yerka, 1952, and his work “Theophilus-Snail” is a very interesting, beyond logic, endeavor for painting a representation of the snail shell as an everyday house similar to that of humans.
