O Κάσπαρ Ντάβιντ Φρίντριχ 5/9/1773-7/5/1840 ήταν Γερμανος ζωγράφος του 19ου αιώνα. Θεωρείται ένας από τους πιο σημαντικούς ζωγράφους του Ρομαντισμού. Οι δύο βασικοί άξονες στους οποίους βασίζεται το έργο του είναι η θρησκευτική πίστη του και η αγάπη του για την γερμανική ύπαιθρο. Τα έργα του διαπνέονται από έντονο μυστικισμό καθώς και θρησκευτικές αλληγορίες ενώ εστιάζουν στο ιερό στη φυση.Οι μαθητές κλήθηκαν να σχολιάσουν την γυναικεία μορφή, την στάση του σώματός της, πώς σχετίζονται αυτά με το ηλιοβασίλεμα κ.α. Τέλος συμπλήρωσαν την κενή από χρώμα εικόνα που τους δόθηκε αποτυπώνοντας ένα δικό τους ηλιοβασίλεμα βασιζόμενο στις προσωπικές τους εμπειρίες και χρωματικές επιλογές.

His work is based on his religious faith and on his love for the German countryside. His works may reflect intense mysticism as well as religious allegories while focusing on the divine and metaphysical dimensions of nature. The students were asked to comment on the female figure, her posture, how they relate to the sunset, etc. Finally, they filled in the empty of color image that was given to them, presenting their own sunset based on their personal experiences and color choices.
