An Ecological Christmas Tree

In recent decades, the celebrations of Christmas and New Year have become associated with the excessive consumerism that characterizes our era. For many people, the emotional uplift of these days is considered proportional to the size of the gifts and the number of lights that illuminate every possible inch of our visual field. Thousands of trees are cut down each year for the production of greeting cards and wrapping paper. This is a culture that leaves a painful ecological footprint on our planet every year.

Driven by the idea of reuse—that is, the use of materials again that were previously considered waste in order to create new objects—the students of the club created a Christmas tree made entirely from advertising leaflets and cardboard packaging boxes.
