Forms from Natural Materials
Inspired by the works of Raku Inoue, the students collected leaves, branches, stones, dried fruits, and other materials they found in an area near the school. They then sorted the materials by type and used them freely in order to create relief and three-dimensional forms inspired by the natural environment. Some of the works were left in nature so that they could decompose naturally.
Raku Inoue states:
Each insect form has an organic character and is destined to decompose. They are a humble reminder that nothing lasts forever, especially in nature, and that the ephemeral is something we cannot ignore. As a worker of nature, I try to respect these valuable resources and use them consciously in my works. Many of these insects were created with plants that grow in my yard. I have seen the seeds sprout, grow taller, and bloom into beautiful flowers. I observed them from their initial stage to their final stage, where through composting and the process of decay they return to the earth.
